Strangers
When strangers are like family,
things like, blood ties, years of familiarity,
seem to not matter anymore.
A smile is accepted without skepticism,
a laughter is shared without pessimism,
your opinions are entertained with optimism,
if your ideas need improvements, they will give constructive criticism.
You are appreciated because of who you are personally, not simply because "we are family",
or "we are related biologically."
In a life rife with choices,
you are free to choose,
those who you want to share your laughter with,
your smile with,
your life with.
When you are with those dear to you,
you can be yourself without prejudice.
When strangers are like family,
they are your family.
